Baylor Softball’s Linsey Hays Named Big 12 Player of the Week

WACO, Texas – Baylor softball’s senior right fielder Linsey Hays was named Big 12 Player of the Week, using a spectacular week at the plate to earn recognition as the conference’s top weekly player, announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office.

Batting .500 in the week’s four games, Hays launched two home runs, driving in seven RBI, while scoring eight of her own. Her 1.333 slugging percentage led the team and remains the only everyday defensive starter to maintain a perfect year in the field, notching five putouts to zero errors last week.

Highlighting the week were her four doubles, with the final two bagger pushing Hays to the 49th of her career, passing Chelsi Lake (48, 2004-2007) for the program record.

Hays is enjoying a career year across the board, with career-high and consistent hitting output, balanced with terrific and dependable defensive play.

With a single game of the regular season and an expected postseason run ahead, Hays is within reach of several other Baylor records, including:
