WACO, Texas - No. 21 Baylor softball (35-12) opens its final regular season home stand of 2016, hosting Texas State (27-16) for a midweek contest on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. at Getterman Stadium.

Tuesday’s games will be the 54th meeting between the clubs, with Baylor holding a 37-16 overall advantage, including a 21-8 mark in Waco.

With a win last season, the Lady Bears pushed its win streak over Texas State to three, taking a victory over the Bobcats each of the last three seasons.

Playing in San Marcos in 2015, Heather Stearns worked through 5.0 innings, allowing just one run on four hits.

Back-to-back-to-back home runs from Shelby Friudenberg, Linsey Hays, and Jordan Strickland in the top of the sixth would put the game out of reach, sealing the victory.

Sarah Beth Toben worked the final 2.0 scoreless frames, holding the Bobcats to just one hit.

For Texas State, the Bobcats have won four of the last five contests, including a shutout win over Lamar.

For Baylor, the Lady Bears come off a weekend series win over Oklahoma State, taking the final two games from the Cowgirls in Stillwater.

With 13.0 scoreless innings and a .100 opponent batting average, Kendall Potts earned her first career Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, giving the Baylor pitching staff a league-leading fourth weekly honor.

The game will be broadcast on FOX Sports Southwest and the FOX Sports Go app, with John Morris and Kaitlyn Thumann as the on-air talent.

The Wednesday contest, and all home games this season, will be broadcast live with audio and video on BaylorBears.com/allaccess. Dan Ingham and Holly Holl will provide commentary.
