New project will upgrade FM 39 in Limestone County

The Texas Department of Transportation will begin a project to upgrade a portion of FM 39 in Limestone County, April 29.

The project is designed to increase safety along FM 39.

The project will reconstruct, widen and resurface the roadway from SH 164, southeast of Groesbeck, east to the Leon county line.  T

The existing travel lanes will be expanded an additional 12” in width with 4’ added to the shoulders. 

The 7 mile project will cost $7.5 million.

It is scheduled to be completed in spring of 2017, weather permitting.    

Temporary delays and restricted travel lanes can be expected from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, for the duration of the project. 

Motorists are urged to observe all warning signs and exercise caution when passing near construction personnel and equipment in the project area.
