A&T’s Kiara Nowlin Named Player of the Week

WACO - Junior top/base Kiara Nowlin earned National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association (NCATA) Player of the Week honors, announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

Nowlin led the No. 1 ranked and undefeated Baylor Bears (7-0) to a road victory over the No. 2 Oregon Ducks for the second time this season, competing in eight events. A junior health sciences major, Nowlin continued her domination of individual tumbling this season with a perfect 10 in her tumbling 6 element pass for the second time this season (Quinnipiac Feb. 14). Nowlin, who is undefeated in her tumbling 6 element pass this season, has averaged 9.946 in the tumbling event, compared to her opponents who have averaged 9.33. In addition, Nowlin helped the Bears score a 9.90 in compulsory toss, a 9.90 in heat 2 of the pyramid event and a 9.65 out of 10 in heat 2 of the toss event. Finally, Nowlin helped the Bears score a 98.80 out of 110.00 in the team event to defeat the Ducks.

Nowlin becomes the second Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling student-athlete to receive NCATA Player of the Week recognition this season as junior base Kaelyn Cowan was honored on Feb. 27.
