Less than two weeks from the third anniversary of the deadly West explosion, West City Mayor Tommy Muska will host the Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 5.

The event will be held at the History of West museum.

This event is an effort to highlight the impact of national service in tackling city problems.

“National service is a vital resource for our city,” Mayor Muska said. “AmeriCorps members and Senior Corps volunteers make our cities better places to live. As Mayor, I am grateful for the dedication and sacrifice of these citizen volunteers, who have been serving in our community for years and are continuing to help us reach our new normal following the effects of the April 17, 2013 explosion.”
