All southbound lanes of interstate 35 near Eddy were closed for nearly an hour and a half on Friday afternoon after a four vehicle crash.
According to Bruceville-Eddy Police, one vehicle following too closely, struck another vehicle, which caused a chain reaction before 1 p.m..
Authorities said an 18-wheeler driver slammed on the breaks, causing the semi to jackknife. This prompted the closure of the southbound lanes of the interstate until around 2:30 p.m.
At one point, traffic was backed up through Lorena near mile marker 322.
