Jeffrey Johnson was indicted on capital murder charges Wednesday by a grand jury.

Johnson was arrested in August for aggravated sexual assault of the 11-month-old in Temple.

The arrest affidavit describes the incident in graphic detail. First responders found cuts and bruises on her body, and fresh blood was found inside her diaper.

Before his arrest, Johnson said he told police he never hurt the child.

"I tell them everything, then they go back to sexual abuse on the baby trying to act like I did something to her, that I sexually abused her,” Johnson said during that time. "I've never done that.”
