Bus of 60 elementary students avoids close call after hit by rock

RIESEL, TX (KXXV) -

A group of Belton ISD second graders are safe after a close call Tuesday morning when a rock smashed into their bus' windshield.

The group of second graders from Sparta Elementary were on their way to a field trip to the Thinkery in Austin.

School officials said the incident happened on I-35 near the exit for RM 620 in Round Rock. 

No one was injured and bus continued on to its destination.

Police were called by the bus driver after the students were dropped off.
