A man was shot by police last night after he pointed a rifle at an officer.

The Meridian Police Officer was requested to assist the Bosque County Sheriff’s Office on a disturbance call in Iredell.

Once the officer arrived, the man came outside with a rifle. He was told several times to drop his weapon and refused. He then aimed the rifle at the officer and began to walk towards him.

The officer shot the man in the lower boy, and the man was flown to a Waco Hospital.

The officer was unharmed, but he has been placed on routine administrative paid leave, which is routine in these instances.
