Update: Son charged with murder after body of missing local man found

Police have formally charged the son of a Mexia man with the murder of his father, his body was found Saturday night, near Lake Mexia.

Authorities said Karl Benjamin Nussbaum, 47, had been a key a suspect in relation to the death. Police initially detained Karl Nussbaum for Burglary warrants from Austin Police Department on Sunday morning. While in Limestone County Jail investigators interviewed Nussbaum who provided investigators with information leading to the body.

Police issued a silver alert Saturday morning for 86-year-old, Harold J. Nussbaum. His body was found around 7 p.m on Saturday. Family reported that Nussbaum was last seen Friday morning on foot in Mexia. Authorities found his vehicle at the Dollar Tree Store in Mexia Friday evening around 7 p.m. 

Harold Nussbaum's body was sent to Southwest Dallas for autopsy. The Texas Rangers, Mexia Fire Department and Limestone County Sheriff's Department assisted Mexia PD with the case.
