Cameron police arrest suspect after shooting

Cameron police arrested a teenage suspect late Sunday night in connection with a shooting in Cameron.

Rudy Ricardo Borgas, 19, was in the Milam County Jail on Monday.

Police said they received an anonymous tip on Borgas' whereabouts Sunday night and found Borgas in a Temple motel room. He was arrested at 11:15 p.m. without incident.

Officers responded to the KD Apartments in the 1000 block of North Central in Cameron after reports of a shooting around 4:10 p.m.

After arriving on scene, officers found a male in his late 20s with a gunshot wound.

Police said the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Rudy Ricardo Borgas, and the victim got into an argument. The two went outside into the parking lot of the apartment complex and Borgas shot the victim with a large caliber handgun.

The suspect fled the scene north from the complex.

The victim was taken to Baylor Scott and White in Temple with a serious gunshot wound. He is listed in serious condition and will undergo surgery on Monday.

Cameron PD are investigating the incident.

Cameron PD, Texas Department of Public Safety, Milam County Sheriff's Department and the Constables offices started a manhunt for the suspect.
