Drive-by shooting suspect arrested

A man suspected of shooting at several Waco businesses was booked into jail.

Officers arrested Agustin Amador Ramirez, Jr. late Tuesday night and took him to the McLennan County Jail.

Police say the man was inside a black Cadillac Escalade when shots were fired out of a passenger window near the intersection of Valley Mills Drive and Franklin Avenue on April 5.

An officer tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver of the SUV sped away.

Law enforcement chased the car, and an AK-47 was seen being thrown from the Escalade.

The driver of the vehicle eventually stopped outside the Showtime nightclub on La Salle Avenue.

That's when officers say Ramirez Jr. jumped out of the SUV and tried to run away.

The man was taken into custody with the help of a K-9 officer but was not immediately arrested because injuries he sustained from the dog required him to be hospitalized.

Ramirez Jr. is facing deadly conduct and evading arrest charges.
