Downed power line causes outages for parts of Temple

TEMPLE, TX (KXXV) -

A downed power line has caused a power outage for parts of Temple Wednesday afternoon. Power is expected to be out until about 6 p.m. Oncor is on scene to get it restored.

Traffic lights are out at S. 31st St. & W. Ave. H and S. 31st & Scott Blvd. in front of Baylor Scott & White Hospital. Drivers should expect slow traffic on S. 31st and part of Everton Rd. is blocked.

A downed distribution feeder line from a Substation on Everton Road in South Temple caused the power outage.

Temple police and Temple Fire & Rescue are on scene. Firefighters put out a small grass fire caused by the downed line.

The outage briefly trapped a person inside an elevator at the Holiday Inn Express on Everton.  Firefighters rescued the person from the elevator just after 3 p.m.
