WACO, Texas – Baylor women's tennis head coach Joey Scrivano has been selected as the Texas captain for the USTA Girls 18s National Team Championships to be held in Claremont, Calif., at The Claremont Club, July 26-29.

“It is a great honor to be selected as the Texas captain again,” Scrivano said. “I'm proud to live in Texas and represent the state in this prestigious event. Our team will have some of the state's top junior players, and I am excited to work with them.”

It is the second time that Scrivano, who has coached for 13 years at Baylor, will lead the Texas contingent at the event. He also served as the captain in 2013.

The state's top seven players will play against teams from 16 other sections across the country in a Compass Draw Team tournament, with six singles and three doubles matches determining the winning team in each round. Different players may be used in singles and doubles. The results of all matches will be included in the data for the Girls' 18 National ranking.
