Tropical system expected to bring heavy rain, possible tornadoes to Central Texas

CENTRAL TEXAS, TX (KXXV) - A tropical system, that could become Tropical Storm Bill, will move into Texas Tuesday through Thursday. We will likely have significant rains across parts of Central Texas.  3-5 inches of rain will be common, but higher amounts in the heavier rain bands will be likely. We will not know where those bands set up until the system moves closer to our area. Rivers and lakes are already full, so it will not take long for flooding to begin. The heaviest rain will likely be Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday. If you live in a flood prone area, have a plan in place to get out if the water starts to rise at your location.

The rain threat will end Friday into the weekend, but it will get hot and steamy!

We will have more on the tropics as conditions warrant.
