Construction worker killed in elevator shaft accident on Baylor campus identified

Baylor University has confirmed that one person is dead after an accident on campus at the construction site of the new business building.

The worker died after being crushed by an elevator at Baylor's new business building at 11:45 a.m. Friday. A school statement Saturday said 51-year-old Jeffrey Thaemert was an independent electrician working for Rosendin Electric of Dallas.

Baylor PD is investigating the cause of the accident. Construction is done for the day Friday.

Baylor University released the following statement:

"This is a terrible tragedy that saddens every member of the Baylor community. Our thoughts and prayers go immediately to the family and friends of the worker who lost his life in the accident. There were no other injuries."
