BELL COUNTY, TX (KXXV) -
UPDATE: After three hours of deliberation on Thursday, a Bell County jury found Larry Boswell Jr. guilty of capital murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
The verdict comes nearly three years after a deadly home invasion in Killeen in July 2012 that Boswell Jr. allegedly ordered. Boswell Jr. was considered the leader of the Gangster Disciples gang in Killeen.
Jonic Arrington, a local club owner, testified on Tuesday that a group of men kicked down his door in the 1400 block of East Avenue G. He said he and his family were tied up and thrown into the bathtub. Arrington said he had $3,900 hidden in his AC unit, which he gave to the men.
Ricky Brandon, also known as Red, was found with a gunshot wound to the chest on the front porch of the home. Brandon died from that gunshot wound.
Boswell Jr. did not shoot Brandon, but because he organized the deadly home invasion, the jury decided that he was just as responsible for the shooting as the man who pulled the trigger.
Defense attorneys said Thursday that they have submitted a motion for a new trial and a notice for appeal.
