High creeks, street flooding and property damage were visible in the Greater Waco area and other parts of Central Texas after flash flooding Monday afternoon.

Cody Gregory's truck did not start after he went into a flooded ditch at the HEB parking lot in Bellmead. He expects his insurance to cover any damage caused by the weather.

Gregory, who is from Oklahoma City, says he did not notice the high water level at the parking lot when he was driving. He missed the exit out of the grocery store lot.

"It was very windy. Windy conditions, rainy, ugly [conditions],” said Gregory.

His car took a nose dive into a flooded ditch with him and his friend on board.

"I left my keys in my truck and everything. I was frantic. Cory and I jumped out real quick and whenever I got out, I submerged waist deep,” said Gregory.

The rainy conditions also flooded the parking lot at The Meadows Apartments in Lacy Lakeview.

"Anytime it rains for any period of time, real hard, it just floods real badly. Definitely the worst I've seen,” said Jesse Kapis, resident at The Meadows Apartments.

On Monday, it was difficult for SUVs to get in or out the parking lot.

Some residents like Kapis, worried the high water will still be a problem Tuesday morning when he goes to work.

"A lot of the people in the lower vehicles are going to get flooded out and stuck,” said Kapis.

For some residents, such as Alethea Tucker, who does not own a car, wading through the water may be the only option to leave the complex.

"It's going to be an issue getting to the bus because I do ride the bus, so I guess I am going to have to wade through it again,” said Tucker.

The residents said they hope management will solve this problem now. In addition, they hope drainage issues are fixed long-term so an incident like this doesn't happen again.
