The American Red Cross has opened shelters in Mexia and Navasota to help anyone in need following the storms over the weekend.

They will help with "shelter, food, water, clean-up supplies and comfort" after the storms swept through Central Texas.

Red Cross Shelters are currently open in Mexia at the First United Methodist Church, 203 North Canton, and in Navasota at the Navasota Center, 102 Stadium Dr. Anyone in need of assistance can visit the shelter or call the Red Cross at (254) 523-4985.

“Our disaster volunteers are on the ground now assessing the damage and helping families in need,” said Jose Dominguez, Interim Executive Director of the American Red Cross Serving the Heart of Texas. “We're ready to scale up our assistance as needed, and local Red Cross workers will be here in the community for as long as needed to help people get back on their feet after these storms.”
