Driver involved in fatal auto-pedestrian accident no billed

MCLENNAN COUNTY, TX (KXXV) - The young driver of a car that hit and killed a 60-year-old Army veteran this past March will not go to trial after being no billed by a McLennan County grand jury.

The jury decided not to indict the 18-year-old woman whose car hit Randy Sommerfelt at the intersection of 22nd St. and Park Lake Dr. on March 15. Sommerfelt was taken to a hospital, where he later died

McLennan County District Attorney Abel Reyna released a statement saying, "The Grand Jury is the representative conscious of the community.  They were presented with the complete and thorough investigation of this case.  We respect and stand by the Grand Jury's decision.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families affected by this tragic incident.”
