Wednesday morning standoff in Waco ends peacefully

WACO, TX (KXXV) - Waco police say a short standoff ended peacefully after a 21-year-old man caused a problem Wednesday morning.

Police say the standoff was in the 1700 block of Monte Vista, and officers arrived about 8:15 a.m. Police were told that a man with a history of mental issues had threatened suicide and possibly to harm family members.

According to police, while the man was in the shower, an elderly family member removed a weapon from the house and called police.

The standoff was all resolved by 9 a.m. Police took the man in for evaluation.
