Two dead in suspected murder suicide in Rockdale

ROCKDALE, TX (KXXV) - Two people are dead in what police suspect was a murder suicide Tuesday morning at a Rockdale home.

Police responded to a home in the 1700 block of Murray Ave. in Rockdale about 6 a.m. Tuesday, after receiving a call about a domestic violence situation going on there.

A family member told police that John Keith Andrus said he was upset about his situation and said he was ready to end it all. Police arrived to find two people dead in the house, a man and a woman, and a third person who had been assaulted.

Deidreer Coleman Fowler, 48, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head and stomach, and 52-year-old John Keith Andrus was found dead with an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Police suspect this was a murder suicide.

Officers found 27-year-old Ravanique Newsome with wounds and swelling to the head and face. She was transported to the Scott & White Hospital in Temple, where police report she is in stable condition in the ICU. Police say Andrus is also responsible for the assault of Newsome.

Police say Andrus had moved to Rockdale from California only a short time ago. Justice of the Peace Gary Northcott pronounced the deceased.
