LIMESTONE COUNTY - The manhunt for a man wanted in connection with two assault cases in Limestone County is over after he was arrested Sunday afternoon.

A large manhunt was started Saturday for Jeffrey Lynn McDonald after police say he assaulted a woman and rammed her vehicle, then fled into a nearby field.

McDonald was already wanted for an assault case from August 15 in Mexia, when police say he got into an argument with a woman. He is accused of ransacking her home, which caused considerable damage, then pouring gasoline on her and threatening to set her on fire.

Mexia police got an arrest warrant for aggravated assault and alerted area law enforcement agencies. Limestone County Sheriff Dennis Wilson believes several of McDonald's friends helped him hide until Saturday, when he got into another argument.

The second incident happened at a home on Saturday, just outside of Mexia on FM 1633. Police say McDonald assaulted another woman, but she managed to escape in a car, at which time, McDonald is accused of ramming her vehicle, then fleeing.

Limestone County deputies began searching the area, with assistance from the DPS aviation unit, tracking dogs from the TDC Boyd Unit, and members of the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.

McDonald managed to elude authorities Saturday, but members of the Marshals checked back at the same location the next day. They found the he had broken back into the house on FM 1633 and took him into custody. He remains in the Limestone County Jail, facing a number of charges.
