MCLENNAN COUNTY - UPDATE: Authorities say the man who died during an officer involved shooting Saturday, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

McLennan County Chief Deputy Matt Cawthon confirms that the autopsy results are in and it has been determined that the gunshot that killed the man was self-inflicted.

Texas Rangers are investigating the incident, but initial reports show the two deputies involved in the traffic stop saw a weapon displayed in the vehicle.

One of the deputies felt he was in imminent danger, and fired two shots, neither of which penetrated the vehicle. Both of the shots reportedly ricocheted off the roof of the vehicle.

The man was found dead at the scene. A 40 caliber gun was recovered from the vehicle.
