Several Buildings in Downtown Lott Catch Fire

UPDATE: Several buildings in downtown Lott caught fire Wednesday night.

According to Ed Sliva with the the Lott Volunteer Fire Department, the blaze started at the dental office and it burned through its roof about 9:30 p.m. The fire traveled under the metal roof and spread to three buildings, including an antique store.

As of 12 a.m., firefighters were still trying to get the fire under control. Firefighters planned to stay overnight Thursday until the fire is completely under control.

Sliva said the cause of the fire and the damage it caused is unknown. However, as of now, the dental office and the furniture place beside it may be a total loss.

Employees may not work from the other two buildings on Thursday morning.

At least four fire departments assisted the Lott volunteer fire department, including Marlin, Chilton, Golinda and Rosebud.
