AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas PTA is inviting members of communities across the state to "back the future" by participating in a series of happenings celebrating the start of the 2014-2015 school year, and by supporting PTA in any number of ways.
"With change on the horizon, it's more important than ever that we advocate for our children by engaging and empowering families and communities to play an active role in the future of our state's education," said Texas PTA President Leslie Boggs. "An investment in the education of Texas children is an investment in the future of Texas communities, and as the school year approaches, we invite you to back the future with us."
In celebration, schools across Texas are hosting "back the future days" at the beginning of the school year, involving community leaders and members as special guests. A Houston ISD PTA will be backing the future at their annual Watermelon Social on August 21. The Midland and Odessa PTAs will be hosting a joint press conference with Mayor Morales and Mayor Turner on August 28, while Harlingen PTA and Senator Eddie Lucio (District 27) will be greeting students and parents as they arrive for their first day. The Spring Branch PTA is having a pre-game tailgate at the first football game of the season on August 29 with Superintendent Duncan Klussman and Representative Jim Murphy (District 133).
The PTA encourages parents, teachers, community members and leaders to collectively engage with the association on the local and state levels. More than members, contributors are leaders and advocates for the children of Texas, benefiting from access to valuable programs, resources and a voice at the Texas Capitol.
