Baylor student injured in deadly crash released from Hospital

TEMPLE, TX (KXXV) - An incoming Baylor freshman who was in critical condition following a wreck on July 29 that killed a Baylor student and a recent Baylor graduate, was transferred from Baylor Scott & White in Temple to a rehab facility in Dallas.

This comes less than a week after 18-year-old Megan Ritzi was taken out of the ICU at Baylor Scott & White and upgraded to fair condition. Doctors say she will be getting a prosthetic leg, and they hope she is back on her feet in about 6-8 weeks.

She sustained injuries from her pelvis, down to her toes, but no injuries to her upper extremities. She had to go through 18 hours of surgery.

Ritzi, along with three others, were traveling to a festival in Louisiana, when their truck drifted off the road and into a tree.

The reported driver, Jake Hale, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was released from the hospital a few days after the crash.

Laura Onwudinanti, a recent Baylor graduate, and Jack Stewart, a Baylor student, died in the crash.
