Authorities raid local gambling ring, seize machines and cash

MCLENNAN COUNTY, TX (KXXV) - Authorities obtained an arrest warrant for a 39-year-old man after seizing gaming machines and cash from a McLennan County tavern that was housing gambling activity.

Units from the Department of Public Safety and the McLennan County Sheriff's Office Organized Crime Unit served a search warrant about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, at Just One More Tavern, located in the 4600 block of Spring Valley Rd. near Lorena.

The raid came after authorities received complaints from citizens that were concerned about gambling activity at that location. The investigation conducted by DPS, McLennan County Sheriff's Office and the McLennan County District Attorney's Office led to the search warrant.

They seized six 8-liner game machines and an undisclosed amount of cash during the search.

Police were able to obtain an arrest warrant for a Moody man on charges of engaging in organized criminal activity. Investigators say he has been cooperating with the investigation and he will be turning himself in later.

DPS spokesman DL Wilson says that as the investigation unfolds, numerous more arrests are expected.
