UPDATE: Police identify victim in Wednesday's drowning in Temple

TEMPLE - UPDATE: Police have identified the victim of Wednesday's drowning at a Temple apartment complex pool. 

She has been identified as 44-year-old Ruthie Murphree. Preliminary autopsy results indicate the drowning was accidental. Investigators are still waiting for the full results before making the final determination. Authorities are still investigating.

Temple police are investigating after a woman drowned early Wednesday morning at a Temple apartment complex.

The reported drowning happened at the Twin Oaks Apartments, located in the 600 block of North Twin Oaks Dr. in Temple.

According to Cpl Christopher Wilcox with Temple PD, police were called to the apartments at 4:10 a.m. They were told a woman was at the bottom of the pool.

The Morgan's Point Dive Team were on scene to assist. Police are still investigating. They are handling this as a drowning at this point.

Police say the woman who drowned was a resident of the apartment complex. Her identity will not be released until next of kin has been notified.
