Two dead, one critically injured after shooting

Posted:
TEMPLE - Another person involved in a shooting Tuesday night in Temple has died. Police say a 31-year-old Killeen woman was killed in the shooting, and a 30-year-old Killeen man died in the hospital from what police say appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Just after 8 p.m., officers were called to the 1000 block of South 29th St., on a report of shots fired. Responding officers heard shots when they arrived and had to take cover. When a backup unit arrived, officers went into the scene and found three victims.

Police found one woman dead and two men with gunshot wounds. The two men were rushed to Scott & White Hospital. The woman, identified as 30-year-old Shamara Henry of Killeen, was pronounced dead at the scene.

One of the men taken to the hospital, identified as Quista Henry, 30, was found with a handgun. Henry was pronounced dead at the hospital from what police say appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The other man taken to the hospital remains hospitalized with serious injuries.

There was one child at the scene. A four month old girl was at the house when the shooting happened. Neighbors say Quista and Shamara Henry were married and the child was Shamara Henry's daughter. They said Shamara Henry moved to the home only two weeks prior to the shooting with the third victim.

Temple police are currently not searching for the shooter because they believe the suspect was among the wounded.

Temple PD is continuing to investigate the shooting. They are interviewing people who knew those involved and witnesses, to try and figure out why this happened.
