Police: Motorcyclist reaches speeds of 100 mph during chase

WACO, TX (KXXV) - Police have arrested a 21-year-old man accused of reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour on Waco streets while running from police on his motorcycle Saturday night.

Ramos Cesar Yanez faces charges of evading arrest in a vehicle and evading arrest on foot. He is also being held on an immigration detainer.

Waco police tried to stop on a 1997 Yamaha motorcycle about 10:30 p.m. Saturday night, near Valley Mills Dr. and Lake Air, after spotting the motorcyclist driving recklessly.

Instead of stopping, he sped off down Lake Air. Officers stopped pursuing him quickly after, due to the speed and danger, but the motorcycle sped on. The motorcyclist wrecked out at Lake Air and Sanger.

The rider took off on foot as police arrived, and was chased down in a nearby parking lot and taken into custody.
