Crews rescue man who fell from Cameron Park cliff

WACO, TX (KXXV) - Rescue personnel were able to save a man who fell from a cliff near Lover's Leap in Cameron Park Friday.

Initial reports were that one person was trapped halfway up the cliff, about 100 yards south of the Lover's Leap observation deck, just after 11:30 a.m.

According to Waco PD Sgt. Patrick Swanton, a man was reading a book while sitting on the cliffs. When he stood up, he lost his balance, and fell part way down the cliff, into some thick brush.

Crews made the rescue about 1 p.m., after he was trapped in the thick brush during the fall. He was transported to Hillcrest. Police say the man had only minor injuries, including scrapes and bruises.

Waco PD, Waco Fire, Park Rangers and ETMC all responded to this call.
