Baylor Alumni Association files counterclaim against Baylor

WACO, TX (KXXV) - The Baylor Alumni Association is filing a counter suit against Baylor, after talks with the university to settle its lawsuit filed against the BAA broke down.

According to a statement from the alumni group's president, Keith Starr, the BAA has tried to reach an agreement with Baylor that would allow the group to keep its name, title of the magazine, the Baylor line, and commitments to thousands of alumni.

Attorneys for Baylor Regents gave the alumni association until September 6 to approve their latest settlement offer. The terms were not released.

“The Baylor Alumni Association and Baylor University spent the better part of the past month trying to resolve our legal dispute. Unfortunately, it does not appear that our efforts are going to be successful at this time,” BAA President Keith Starr said. “At the end of the day, our efforts at peace failed, and the timetable insisted on by the Regents was unworkable. Now, we must reluctantly, but resolutely defend the claims made against us and prosecute our counterclaims,”
