Veterans center to collect hard data for first time

MCLENNAN COUNTY, TX (KXXV) - Those who rely on a local Veterans One-Stop Center may notice better service soon.  That's because information forms are now being distributed at the office in McLennan County.

The questions are straight forward, asking when veterans served and what their current issues are.

McLennan County Veterans Service Officer Steve Hernandez says, "We don't really want to show a name, show any personal information in reference to that.  We just want a tracking of what we're doing, how we're doing it and what the outcomes are."

Until now, the Veterans One-Stop Center has never collected hard data on the hundreds of people who seek help each month.

Hernandez hopes these numbers will help the center function better and make it easier for them to apply for grants.
