TEMPLE, TX (KXXV) - A two vehicle accident involving a cement truck and an 18-wheeler backed up traffic for a couple hours on Highway 317 in Temple Monday morning.

Temple PD is investigating the crash that occurred near State Highway 317 and Trail Ridge Road, just after 8 a.m. Monday. The initial investigation shows the driver of the 18-wheeler was heading west on Trail Ridge Rd., and the cement truck was northbound on Highway 317, when the two vehicles collided.

This dislodged the cement drum from the truck, spilling 2-4 yards of wet cement onto Highway 317. TxDOT and hazmat crews were called out to the scene to help clean up the cement and vehicle fluids.

The scene was cleared just before 11 a.m., and the roadway was opened. There were only minor injuries reported at the scene.

Temple Fire & Rescue, Temple police and Scott & White EMS all responded to the accident.
