Temple man sent to hospital after bee attack

A Temple man was sent to the hospital after he was stung multiple times by bees Sunday afternoon.

The man was mowing his yard at his home on South 5th Street, near Loop 363 in Temple, around 1:33 p.m. Sunday afternoon. At some point, Temple fire officials say he disturbed a bee hive inside a dead tree. He was then stung multiples times.

People nearby tried to help out as well, but no one else was stung nearly as much, Temple spokesperson Thomas Pechal said. The man was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Pechal says the bees are honey bees, but they have been sprayed as a precaution for the community.
