FORT HOOD, TX (KXXV) - After getting his 4th star, Lt. Gen. Mark Milley will be promoted to general and commanding general at Fort Bragg, and a general at Fort Bliss will take over Milley's spot.

Lt. General Mark A. Milley was confirmed for promotion to general and assignment as the commanding general of U.S. Army Forces Command at Fort Bragg, N.C.

Maj. Gen. Sean B. MacFarland, who is currently commanding general of 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, will take Lt. Gen. Milley's spot of lieutenant general and assignment as the III Corps and Fort Hood commanding general.

The III Corps change of command between Milley and MacFarland is scheduled for August 8 at 9 a.m. on Fort Hood.

In a statement from Fort Hood, Milley, who has commanded III Corps and Fort Hood since December 2012, said, "I am humbled and honored by the nomination, confirmation, and selection for promotion to general and the opportunity to command United States Army Forces Command.  I look forward to continuing to make a contribution to the defense of this great nation.

"While my wife Hollyanne and I are excited for the opportunity to continue to serve, it comes with a touch of sadness as we will leave behind so many friends and partners at the Great Place," he said.  "Fort Hood, the surrounding communities, and all of Central Texas have truly opened their hearts to us and made us feel like family."
