Last suspect in Connally ISD vandalism case arrested

MCLENNAN COUNTY, TX (KXXV) - The last suspect in the break-in and vandalism of two Connally ISD schools is in the McLennan County Jail after he was taken into custody in Limestone County.

Charles Carleton Shifflet has been charged with three counts of burglary of a building for the break-ins at the schools, and another business. Erryl "Trey" Dennis Broadman III, 20, was charged with two counts of burglary of a building after being arrested a couple of days after the vandalism.

Limestone County Sheriff's Deputies spotted a car matching the description of one that Shifflet had been seen driving. They tracked him to a location off a dirt road in rural Limestone County, where he tried to run, but was apprehended.

Connally ISD police drove to Groesbeck Wednesday night and picked him up, and Shifflet has been booked into the McLennan County Jail.

Some of the property taken from the Connally ISD schools was recovered, along with property believed to be taken in other burglaries. Authorities say Shifflet had no known local address and had been staying at various motels. He is from the Baltimore, Maryland area.
