Local Church Collects Donations for Unaccompanied Minors

WACO, TX (KXXV) - Political views are not stopping a local church from helping thousands of young undocumented minors.

Members of the First Spanish Assembly of God in Waco will go to the border to drop off donations to those in need.

Senior Pastor Frank Alvarado is currently collecting diapers and underwear to take to Laredo on July 31.

The United Methodist Church Committee on Relief will distribute the items to immigrants dropped off at bus stations after being processed.

Alvarado said he is looking at the need rather than the political views on the subject.

"I am pretty sure that they would come out and criticize but we will not be deterred because we are focused and we know what we want to do in helping these children,” said Alvarado.

The church is diapers and undergarments for children, young adults and adults.

You may drop off your donations at the First Spanish Assembly of God church located at 3301 Clay Avenue in Waco. You may reach the church at 254-752-2293
