Drama could continue after Morales sworn in to office in Temple

Judy Morales is back on the Temple city council but some residents still aren't happy she's there.

The city swore in Morales before a budget workshop meeting at the city hall Thursday afternoon. She said she was excited and happy to be back on the council again.

This is after District 2 elected Morales in a special election Saturday. Morales declined the seat causing the special election in May after she pleaded no contest to destroying public documents in March. During that time Mari Paul tried to recall both Morales and the entire council. That was stopped after they didn't have enough signatures and Paul stepped down from the council.

Paul says she's still not happy Morales is on the council. She says her and a few other people may try another recall but it won't be until six months from now because of charter rules. Morales says she questions the motives of a possible future recall.

"Is it to help the city or is it just for a personal vendetta? What is it, is it for the best interest of the city? And I would hope that whoever is thinking about this we could sit down and talk about it and go from there," Morales said.

Morales says there's no love lost between her and the council after what happened in March. She says they both have the interests of the city in mind.
