Two in alleged pot-growing family plead guilty

WACO - Two people have pleaded guilty to charges related to them operating a large marijuana growing operation in California and illegally distributing the drugs in the Central Texas area.

Both Phillip Larry Koss and Le'Ann Koss pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana and aiding and abetting possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Brian Smith also pleaded guilty in connection with the case.

Federal prosecutors say Le'Ann and Phillip, along with their sons Conner and Chad, grew marijuana in California, then conspired to sell more than 50 kilos of it near the Baylor campus.

Conner Koss pleaded guilty in June and is set to be sentenced August 20.

Brian Smith's sentencing is scheduled for September 3, while Phillip and Le'Ann's sentencing is scheduled for September 17.
