UPDATE: Water conservation for Belton residents lifted

BELTON, TX (KXXV) - Those in Belton are no longer being asked to conserve water after a water line break Wednesday morning.

The water line was hit at a construction site around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, near Loop 121 and US 190.

The public information officer for Belton, Paul Romer, says the area affected has been capped at both ends after they shut down water to the line in order to fix the break. Romer says the city is still running at 100%, but they lost some water because of the break. That is why residents were being asked to conserve water.

The City of Belton put up the following message on their website: "An 8-inch water line has been ruptured on a construction site near Loop 121 and U.S. 190. Water conservation is requested in Belton over the next 24 hours."

The water conservation was lifted Wednesday afternoon.
