Two killed in Leon County head-on accident

LEON COUNTY, TX (KXXV) -

Two people were killed as two trucks collided head-on in Leon County, north of Buffalo, late Monday afternoon.

DPS reports the wreck happened on US HWY 79, 11 miles north of Buffalo. A 2001 Ford F-550 truck was northbound on 79, when a tire blew out. This sent the truck into oncoming traffic, according to DPS, where is hit a southbound 2007 Ford F-150 pickup head-on.

The driver of the southbound pickup, identified as 61-year-old James Avery Wesner, of Livingston, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the F-550 truck was identified as 43-year-old James Michael Gibson, of Palestine. He was transported to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, where he was pronounced dead at 7:58 p.m.
