Posted: Updated:

DALLAS (AP) - The head of a charter school co-founded by former Dallas Cowboy Deion Sanders says he will appeal the state's decision to revoke its charter.

Superintendent Ron Price said Wednesday he will appeal the Texas Education Agency's decision to shutter the two Prime Prep Academy campuses, home to nearly 500 students. The agency's concerns about the school include mismanagement, financial problems and issues with its subsidized meals program.

The Dallas Morning News reports ( ) the Dallas and Fort Worth campuses will likely open for the fall pending a final decision by the state.

The NFL Hall of Fame cornerback says co-founder D.L. Wallace is to blame for the school's troubles and has offered to repay taxpayer funds.

Wallace has no listed number and could not be reached for comment.
