Boil water order lifted for Bell County cities and Fort Hood

Posted: Updated:

FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) - Fort Hood officials have lifted a boil water order after tests concluded the post's water supplies are safe for consumption.

Officials at the Central Texas post lifted the order Wednesday, the same day physical training resumed.

A work crew in Belton on Saturday accidentally punctured a large water main serving Fort Hood and several cities in the region. The line has been fixed but not before widespread water conservation measures were imposed.

Fort Hood, with about 40,000 active duty personnel, remains under a Stage 1 conservation alert, which means personnel must minimize use of water for irrigation and adhere to other restrictions.

Killeen and Copperas Cove also lifted their boil order notices Wednesday.
