BELLMEAD, TX (KXXV) - Police have arrested a 50-year-old man who police say confessed to the robbery of a Bellmead Dollar General Store on July 6.

Howard Eugene Davis has been charged with aggravated robbery following an investigation by police. Police say that during the interview, Davis confessed to the robbery.

Bellmead police were called to the Dollar General, located in the 4200 block of Bellmead Dr., at 6:20 p.m. on July 6, about a robbery. Responding officers were told a man wearing all dark clothing and no shoes, entered the store. In store surveillance saw him taking items off the shelf.

He was seen putting a hat and sandals on while in the store. He then walked to the manager's office, where he gave the store manager a note that said, "Don't say anything, please. I will kill you." Store employees told police they thought they saw a weapon in the waistband of his pants.

The robber made off with cash, and left the store. No one was injured during the robbery.

Howard Davis was identified as a person of interest during the investigation, because he was seen in the area, and matched the description of the robber. Davis was brought in for questioning by Bellmead PD, after he was tracked down at the Bellmead Delta Inn.

Police say that during the interview, Davis confessed to the robbery. A search warrant was conducted for Davis' room at the motel and police recovered stolen items from the Dollar General.
