Woman arrested for having unrestrained child in front seat who was injured

WACO - Police have arrested a 24-year-old woman after her child was injured while sitting in the front seat of a car, unrestrained.

Jocelynn Annette Thomas has been charged with injury to a child following an investigation by police.

Waco PD's Sgt. Patrick Swanton says their investigation began after getting a CPS referral on June 23. The incident happened on June 21, when police say Thomas was involved in a crash.

Police found that she had her 2-month-old child in the front seat, not properly restrained. The child suffered serious injuries, including a skull fracture and bleeding of the brain.

During the investigation, police determined that Thomas knew the child was not properly restrained. Police got a warrant for Thomas and she was taken into custody Wednesday, July 9.
