Police searching for man involved in two Groesbeck robberies

Posted:
GROESBECK - Groesbeck police are searching for a man they believe was responsible for two robberies, only one of which was successful, that took place within 30 minutes of each other Sunday night.

The first robbery was reported at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, at the Dollar General Store in the 500 block of Yeagua St. in Groesbeck. The lone suspect went into the store, and demanded money from the safe. The employee told the robber the safe was locked and they did not have access to it. About that time, a second employee approached, and the would-be robber fled the scene without getting anything.

Then at 10 p.m., a man police believe to be same man at the attempted Dollar General robbery, went to the Pizza Hut in the 400 block of S Dr J B Riggs Drive, displayed a large knife, and again demanded money from the store's safe. The employees told him they could not open it, but he escaped with money from the cash register.

There were no injuries reported in either robbery.

The robber is described as young and thin, and he was wearing a bandana over his face, with all black clothing at the time of the robberies.
