GOP Selects Justice of the Peace, Constable Candidates

MCLENNAN COUNTY - Some notable surprises came after the McLennan County Republican Party selected its candidates for justice of the peace and constable for the November elections on Monday.

Kristi Decluitt, who represents precinct one, place one from the old precinct distribution, will not be in November’s ballot. Dianne Hensley will be on the ballot as the GOP candidate for that position.

“I was a little surprised because it was a short time frame to work in, but I am very excited about it,” said Hensley.

Decluitt’s term ends in 2016, but if Hensley wins, she would start her term next January.

"I know Ms. Decluitt, she is a lovely woman. I just thought I will like a chance to do the job,” said Hensley.

News Channel 25 reached out to Decluitt, but she did not want to comment on the matter until things settled.

According to a Facebook post from the McLennan County Republican Precinct 19 Chair Kurt Krakowian, Hensley won the nomination in a tight race.

Walter “Pete” Peterson is the candidate for precinct one, place two. Precinct two’s seat is still to be determined.

David Pareya is the GOP candidate for precinct three, after threatening to run as an independent last week.

Brian Richardson will represent precinct four, while precinct five still needs to be determined.

The candidate for constable in precinct one is Walt Strickland and precinct two’s candidate still needs to be determined.

David Maler is the candidate for precinct three and Stan Hickey for precinct four.

Salvador Romero will represent precinct five.

The Democratic Party of McLennan County will announce its candidates within the next two weeks.
