Bell County sex offender arrested for failing to comply

BELL COUNTY, TX (KXXV) - A 49-year-old Bell County man has been arrested for failing to comply with sex offender registration.

In 2000, Otis Lester King was convicted of a crime that required him to register as a sex offender. He told authorities that he was living on W Stephanie St. in Little River-Academy, and drove to his job in Grand Prairie.

Sheriff’s Investigators with the Special Crimes Unit were conducting a routine sex offender registration check and found that King was not living at his reported address, but in Hurst, TX.

The case was presented to the Bell County District Attorney's Office on June 18. King was charged with failing to comply with sex offender registration. An arrest warrant was issued and investigators with DPS arrested King in Denton County on June 25.

He was transported back to Bell County on June 26 and he was released after posting $100,000.
